Annually in January, GTBR Host Companies nominate resident contractors for the GTBR Contractor Safety Awards based on their demonstration of an exemplary safety performance. All nominees submit their OSHA safety metrics and complete a GTBR awards application which is evaluated by the GTBR Host Safety Committee. There were 55 Nominees for the 2016 GTBR Contractor Safety Awards program.

Contractors that have been evaluated to have submitted their OSHA safety metrics and completed a comprehensive GTBR Contractor Safety Awards application advance to a final awards evaluation consisting of in-field individual personnel audits and inspection of required safety records. There were 40 Nominees that advanced into the Finalist category.

The determination of eleven (11) category award recipients is based on composite scores from the Finalists OSHA safety metrics, GTBR Awards Application, in-field personnel audits, and safety records inspections.
