Colorado State University has put out their updated forecast outlook for the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season. The forecast calls for a below-average season with 11 named storms, 4 hurricanes, and 1 major hurricane. The outlook has changed based on the Atlantic sea surface temperatures remaining below average. Vertical wind shear has increased across the Caribbean inhibiting any tropical development. The Saharan Dust moving across the Atlantic is also choking any activity in the Atlantic.

Colorado State University anticipates an El Nino pattern to develop as we head into the peak of hurricane season. This would lead to even more vertical wind shear across the Atlantic and Caribbean disrupting the formation and intensification of tropical cyclones.
