BEAUMONT, TX September 17, 2021 – The Golden Triangle Business Roundtable held its 31st Annual Contractor Safety Awards in a new and innovative way this year. This annual event honors Golden Triangle contractors for exemplary safety performance in the industrial workplace. In lieu of the large awards banquet historically hosting 300 – 500 people, GTBR members personally recognized each nominee on-site in an effort to practice proper social distancing and prevent the spread of Covid-19. This year, the refining and petrochemical facilities conducted internal audits of the contractors that worked within their facilities. Based on those audits, nominations were made for recognition of those contractor organizations that demonstrated exemplary safety service. The Safety Awards are held in eleven categories:
- Construction: Small, Medium, Large
- Maintenance: Small, Medium, Large
- Specialty: Small, Medium, Large
- Engineering
- Meritorious
“The mission of the safety awards since inception has been to promote a collective commitment to workforce safety between Industrial facilities and contractor organizations throughout Southeast Texas,” said Daniel Misko, Chairperson of the GTBR and Mechanical Division Manager at ExxonMobil Beaumont Refinery. “There has been a decline in the number of industrial injuries over the past 30 years. We are proud of our small part in that overall success.”
